6-7-09 Here is our newest video from one of our tosses. Chris is the video man who I believe narrates as good as anyone. I think he does a great job with it. He brings you as close to reality as it gets with our races. Today the birds went on a short toss and were turned up in two groups. You cannot tell at this point anything special about the birds because they fly back to the loft and then loft fly for an hour which is OK with us. Our first tosses are behind us and all were done between 8:30 and 9:00 am so that the pigeons arrive and trap about the time they will fly their last 50 miles on race day. It will be hot most likely but with the birds getting up early at sunrise and arriving by 10:45-11:00 they should be able to do this with no problem. We still have a lot of training to do and hopefully when all is said and done everyone will still have a bird or birds going to the Fire Cracker event. Due to 3 weeks of rain and storms we were set a little behind on loft conditioning so we did some two a day's and really pushed the birds. The birds are healthy and fit and the best will be here. Training will continue every day and we should be to 75 miles by the end of next week or shortly after. We hope to take the birds right into the race with no delays in training from this point on. Once we get to 75 miles we will post what is here. Although we have lost a few birds, at this point everyone is still in the race so lets keep our fingers crossed!!!

As you can see from our video's the birds are more than ready to hit the road. We will start road training within the next few days and get the birds up early to avoid the heat for now. The birds have had two a day loft flights for several weeks now with the intent of getting more wing time on the birds and some heat work. We have done everything we can to get them ready for road training so now it is up to them. We wish all of you the best of luck and hope to see you on July 4th for a fun mid summer event!
Well, here is our latest video of the Fire Cracker birds loft flying today. We managed to get up on top of the roof of the Museum to film this. Keep in mind that this video is put together in segments so although it is only a few minutes long the video itself was filmed over an hour or more. Today the birds routed out to the east completely out of site for over 40 minutes. After they returned they flew another 15 or 20 minutes around the loft area plus the time they flew before they routed out. All in all their flying time was nearly 1 hour 20 mins.
From the roof you can get a view of the surrounding area in which we fly the birds here at the World of Wings. A lot of trees? Yes, A lot of Towers? Yes, but most of the birds learn their way and deal with it. We wanted to see the birds routing well before road training and from what we have seen the last two weeks tells us they are ready. Once we start road training we will go everyday weather permitting. They are just finishing their last 4 days of what we call our preparation health program. Nothing fancy, just the basic clean up before training. It is a full coarse treatment for Canker, Cocci, Worms and Respiratory tract. By the way, we always rotate drugs and use them as little as possible. Other than the vitamins they get from the wheat germ oil we use on the grain a few times a week they are given nothing else. We have been letting the birds get used to the training baskets for a few days and will continue doing so up until their first toss. Please get your payments in if you have not paid. Send to World of Wings, 2300 N.E 63rd, OKC,OK 73111. Enjoy the Video!

Below is a new video of the fire cracker birds loft flying. The birds are being flown more than once daily and all total are getting close to 2 1/2 -3 hours flying time. We are working them very hard at this time because of all the rain we had earlier. They appear fit, healthy, and getting close to the time we go down the road with them. We will run them through a health program for 10 days and then road training will begin. Good luck to all!
