2011 WORLD OF WINGS TRIPLE CROWN TRAINING INFORMATION AND UPDATES

UPDATE 10-10-2011

Birds have not been trained due to 3 days of rain and high winds. We hope to train tomorrow and again Thursday and are looking at flying the Hot Spot 150 on Sunday or Monday. We will post a few birds that will not be activated by their owners tomorrow and anyone wishing to pay the entry fee per bird may do so. You would then retain all rights to any money won by those birds and the birds would also be yours after the race series. Best of luck to all of you. Please see LIVE CLOCKING PAGE FOR ALL TRAINING AND RACE RESULTS

The Hot Spot Race payout will be  1st= 30% - 2nd =20%- 3rd =10%- 4th=10%- 5th =10%  paid by trapping order.

ACTIVATION TIME $300 per Bird

The Activation toss is done . Please take a look at what birds you have and send your entry fee in asap. We will take the birds out to 100 miles but do not expect to loose many. If any birds are lost before the first race your entry will be refunded. We plan on flying the hot spot 150 mile race Oct 10th. Any birds not paid by October 10th will be sold to whoever pays the entry fees. We hope that you all can activate all your birds so we can have a good series. Extra entry fee of 50.00 per bird must be here by Oct 9th for the Hot Spot Race. We will have the 200 mile 1st race of the Triple Crown Oct 13th or 14th. Please have all fees here by Oct 10th so we can get this series started. The birds look great! It was a long very hot summer so we delayed training a few weeks. We will train 80 miles and 100 miles prior to the Hot Spot or the equal of time on the wing for those distances. Send all fees to World of Wings, 2300 NE 63rd St, OKC, OK 73111. Best of Luck!

Latest Update 9/28/2011

We have been road training the birds everyday and they are now up to 50 miles. The chip bands have been put on all the birds and they were tested on today's toss. To let you know how the training has gone so far we started the birds at 3.5 miles twice then 5 miles twice, then 10 miles twice, 20 miles twice, 30 miles twice, 40 miles once, then 50 miles. We started road training about 212 birds and now have 181. We had a funny toss on the second 30 mile toss and the birds came busted up somewhat and took much longer to get here than they should have but then they loft flew for nearly 4 hours the following day. With that I decided to move on. They have done outstanding (knock on wood) since. We plan to have an activation toss within the next 8 days of 75 miles or 100, whichever the weather will allow at the time. If your birds are here after the activation toss they will most likely be here to go to the first race. Please start sending your entry fees of $300 per bird as soon as you view the activation toss. Remember the 1st 150 mile race only counts as a Hot Spot Race. You may send that money in anytime once you see what birds you have here,  if you wish to fly for the Hot Spot Cash. We will post the birds tomorrow. I am pretty happy with the way training is going so far and hope the birds now settle into a good racing mode and keep coming . Thanks a bunch and best of luck

Randy

Latest Update 9/13/2011

We started road training yesterday 9/12/2011. We also went today and will continue training weather permitting. Some birds are still in a slight head and neck molt due to the extreme temps we had this summer. We will keep them short for a while but once we feel the birds are ready to jump out we will proceed into longer tosses. Once we get to 50 miles we will start posting training tosses here. The birds are healthy and ready to go into the training routine. We started this with aprox 233 birds and still have over 200 birds after loft flying everyday in the heat of summer. What we have once we get to 75 miles will most likely make it to that 1st race. You may send your entry fees in once we get to the 75-100 training race.  The entry is $300.00 per bird. We will keep you updated as we move along in training.

Latest Update 8/17/2011

Oklahoma will set an all time record this week for over 50 days 100 degrees and above. It has been a brutal summer for us this year. The birds are loft flying every day but not as good as we like to see because of the heat. It has also slowed the molting process on some of the younger birds making it more difficult to get them up and flying. We do not want to force the birds by flagging in this heat but we will begin flagging shortly . We have been patient with them during this stressful period. Once we flag the birds and are seeing wing time of an hour or more from the majority of the birds we will then start road training and not look back. The activation toss will be 75-100 miles and once that is complete you will need to send in your entry fees ASAP so we can post a payout before the first race. If your bird is lost after the activation toss before it fly's the first race your entry fee will be refunded. If you wish to send it in prior to the activation toss that is fine and you will be refunded the entry fee for any of your birds that do not go to the first race. We are behind where we want to be in training but it could not be helped with this heat we have had all summer. We hope to start soon! The birds look good and health has been outstanding during this heat wave with very few losses. We plan to hand catch every bird this week and spray each bird and look them over closely and get an inventory update. That is it for now and we wish all of you the best of luck in the race series this year! Thank you all for your support.

UPDATED 8/17 2011

We did a hands on inventory 6/21 / 2011. We have lost very few birds and all are out flying and lofted in

We have notified the breeders who need replacements. If you did not receive a call or email , all is good to this point.

The weather is hot, hot, hot and we are not forcing the birds at all. We have been very windy this year as well. Health of the birds is good and most are molting.

We will pox and pull the 10th flights in July. The series will not start until Mid to late October.

7/22 2011

Well, Oklahoma weather has been super hot with over 30 days of 100 plus degree days and we still have August to go. The birds are doing well but we are not force flying at this time. The 10th flights have been removed and the birds are still let out every morning and continue to fly. We do not any extra stress on the birds at this time because the heat and molting is plenty for them to deal with. We will start getting the birds in gear and preparing them for road training when we feel they are ready in flight condition, molt, and the heat breaks. We will keep you updated as we progress and the updates will be given more often once we get into the more frequent training period. Take care and have a great summer!
