SPECIAL NOTES
We decided to loft fly the birds today and work them into the heat. They gave us a remarkable two hours 10 min before coming down. We will lock them down now and get them ready to race Saturday. We will post an entry list from Unicon so you can see all the birds shipped to the race. The race results will be posted Saturday as soon as the birds get here. We will post the top 7 birds quickly and then let the others keep clocking before we pull the clock and post a full report. We will try and have live video feed on race day but we have to do some testing before we will know for sure if it will work out. The forecast for Saturday is posted below. We will go to 200 miles and try and get the birds home before the extreme heat sets in. The birds are as ready as they can get! We will post a video later today of todays loft flying. The birds flew very very good and look very fit for the job at hand. I know things do not always turn out as well as we think they will but I look for one heck of a race Saturday! These birds are trained well and tough as nails! Good LUCK to all of you, we wish you could all win!
Please let us know if you will be attending the Saturday, 4th of July Fire Cracker Classic so we can get an idea how much food we need. Call and leave a message on my cell phone at 405-250-7078. You need to try and be here by 9:00 am so we can settle in and get ready for the birds. We plan, if the temps are high to go between (150-175 miles). Thank You and good luck to all.
Randy
You may roll your fire Cracker birds over into the Truck Race by paying 350.00 each . They will be turned and trained from the North along with the Truck Race birds. They will then compete for all Truck Race prizes. Let us know after the race any birds you would like to roll over. Thanks and good luck.
6-29-09 Monday's Toss from the Mountains posted below. Birds did good but again a few are coming after the main group. We will update the late arrival's later today. Notice the repeating pigeons!!!!!!

The birds came in a 44 bird drop but there were 3 commons
with them and some flew around the loft with the strays before we could get them
down. We pulled the clock early but have gotten a few more birds since. The temp
today will be 101 degrees and high humidity. We expect a slight cool down Sunday
with Monday's morning temp of only 69 and high of 92. We will take the birds to
the 100 mile toss Monday and take advantage of the temp drop. We are trying our
best to get as many of these birds to the race as we can . We expected the heat
and it is here early! This group of birds are tough and holding their own. When
they make a mistake in this heat they will be late.

The birds went 65 miles today and came on the drop in 68 minutes. A great toss with hot temps, high humidity and just a light 10-12 mph tail wind. We have put the chip rings on all the birds today and again sprayed them for bugs as we assigned them. We will go 90 miles Thursday morning and have the clock on to clock the birds. We will post that result for you to see. It has been very hot and will continue to be 100 plus everyday for the next 7 days which makes it imperative that these birds hold the line without making a mistake. NERVE RACKING, but fun! We hope you can join us on the 4th of July for a fun little race. Although it is a tough time of year to train, we hope we can keep everyone in the race . Hats off to you breeders for sending some tough ones for this. This can be a bull headed bunch, but so am I so we get along just fine. Good luck to all and we will update you Thursday.

The birds are back on track and training well. They will be out to 65 miles by mid week and hopefully get at least one 100 mile toss before the 1st race. If we cannot get two 100 mile tosses in before the 1st race we will fly from south Denton Texas. This will shorten the race 35 miles or so but it will be tough enough this time of year. Today the birds went up from 40 miles into a south wind of 25 mph (tailwind). They have stopped over flying and came on line. We know these birds can stay in the air a long time so distance is not the concern but mental awareness is. We hope the winds calm at least some for the longer tosses but it is what it is. So far everyone is still in the race which is a good thing. This time of year when the birds over fly the loft they are out in the heat facing horrific hot headwinds to get back. With that said , hats off to the birds that we have. They have proven to be good and solid. We did pick up a bird today so the list below is updated. We have 60 birds. Good luck to all .
After yesterday's toss the birds in green are here and in the loft. We expect to get a few more yet. The temps are close to 100 so they are not flying much during the heat of the day. We had good returns early this morning so we feel like we could still get birds later today. We will update again tomorrow and hi-lite in green any birds that return. All the birds are in good condition, even the birds that returned this morning.

We have road trained the birds everyday with the exception of Saturday because of rain. We have had the birds on 11 tosses so far and until today have only lost a few. Today we took the birds to the same release point we trained from yesterday. They took a few loops and off they went. Two hours later we had 6 singles and then after three hours we had a 32 bird drop. They had not been down! We got a few smaller drops after that and they had been down. We expect most of them to work back in but we will most likely drop some on this one. It is now 2:56 pm and over 90 degrees so they are down. The birds had a 15 mph tailwind and clear sky at release and most likely over flew. We hope to get most of them back and will let you know tomorrow how we come out on this toss. The birds have been doing super up to this toss and when loft flying they give us over an hour and 30 minutes so we know they are in great shape. We will keep you updated. No toss tomorrow! , then we resume.
6-4-09
As you can see from our video's the birds are more than ready to hit the road. We will start road training within the next few days and get the birds up early to avoid the heat for now. The birds have had two a day loft flights for several weeks now with the intent of getting more wing time on the birds and some heat work. We have done everything we can to get them ready for road training so now it is up to them. We wish all of you the best of luck and hope to see you on July 4th for a fun mid summer event.
5-20-09
The birds are being loft flown everyday and most are giving over an hour in warm temps. We are not letting them out at this point until nearly 12:00 noon to get them use to the heat. We will convert to early morning and rotate between early and noon loft flying next week. They seem fit and healthy and we are now in a warm and dry weather pattern so we hope to start road training the 1st week of June. We will do several short tosses before stretching the birds out but we look forward to a small but fun summer race! We ended up receiving 90 birds total. We will adjust the payout accordingly. This will be a tough race to train out and fly in the summer months but we will get them there. Until next week, that is it for now. Good luck to all!!!!!
5-13-09
Well the weather just keeps on and on with storms, rain, and hi winds but we have got the birds routing out, most of them anyway. They are doing great and we hope to really get them going by the end of next week. Road training begins in June. We will keep you posted.
5-4-09
We have had several bad days of stormy weather and have not been able to let the birds out much. They were out today and loft flew well. Some are starting to really route out. All is good to this point. Birds are healthy and flying. When the weather settles we will have them out everyday. That is it for now. Thanks to all.
4-29-09
We have had the birds out flying every good day we get. The last week has been very stormy and today is a wash out with heavy rain so they stay in. We hope to get a lot of flying time next week around the loft. All is well.
4-23-09
The birds are out starting to fly around a lot. It is getting warm in the afternoons so we are working the birds around 12:00 noon to get them use to the heat . It will be hot in July. We will pox the birds the first week of May and begin road training the first week of June. We still have a few birds coming which we will work out quickly . Next week is the last week we will take birds. This should be a fun summer race although we fell short of what we hoped to get but the race will go as scheduled. We will do one last inventory this weekend and you have next week to send birds (either entries or replacements). We will say it has gone very well getting these birds lofted in and outside. Thank you all for your support .
4-16-09
Birds have been out several times now and are doing good. We have every bird outside every decent day we get. No health issues with any of the birds as of today. All looks great! Any birds lost settling we will let you know ASAP. Thanks for your support! We have posted a few photos on the video, photo page you can check out. Thanks again. We will keep you posted.
Updated 4-1-09
Hello Everyone. The birds are coming in faster now and we will soon update the new entries. The first group is trap trained and doing great. No sick pigeon and no problems to this point so far. While we are on the health subject I want to remind those sending birds to either of our races to PLEASE do not pox your birds prior to shipping to us. We pox all birds once they are all here so we do not have several months of lingering pox problems with the birds. Not that it hurts the birds that much but with an early bird race we have to get the birds up and into training quickly and in hot weather. When you have pox going through the birds it is difficult on the pigeons that are running fever from the pox virus. We had two pigeons shipped in that had pox and they were isolated and will be until they are no longer contagious. They never were put into the loft so all is well. They will be OK and good to go. Once all the birds are here we will vaccinate every bird at the same time.
Tell your friends about both our races. We still have room for birds in the fire cracker and the Truck race 2009.
Thanks
Randy
Birds are arriving daily. We have several reservations but you still have 3 weeks to send birds. As long as the birds are here by April 15th they will be good to go on the 4th of July! Call 405-250-7078 if you would like to get into this exciting early bird race.
